Description: In this EU project the NRG effort focusses on research into several aspects of the retrievability of emplaced waste containers from an underground repository. The concept of retrievability has been popular with Dutch experts and is gaining interest in Europe.

Generation IV

Title: Nuclear Energy systems for the future - Generation IV
Coordinator: Aliki van Heek
Description: The 'Generation IV' programme aims to contribute to the development of fission reactors for the near future. It takes account of the Dutch policy to keep the nuclear option.
NRG focusses on CGRs and LWRs. Contributions are in the areas physics, chemistry, civil engineering and materials. The research effort is linked to international projects.

Medical Valley

Title: Medical Valley, medical and health physics applications

Description: NRG undertakes important activities in the medical sectors. "Petten" produces more than half of the nucleaire pharmaca demand in the European hospitals. Treatments not possible in hospitals are conducted in Petten. In addition NRG performs advanced laboratory analyses of radioactivity in urine and blood samples, shielding calculations for röntgen apparatus and accelerators, ALARA-analyses, person dosimetry and other health physics services.

ROSA fuel management

Title: ROSA - fuel management and core configuration software package

Description: The package is used by many operators all over the world, among others in the USA, where it is a reputed tool. The NRG consultants perform installation and training on-site. The software is subject to continuous modernisation to cope with all (future) demands of our clients.
