Qualification through Experience

NRG (formerly: ECN Nuclear Energy) has an large experience in radiation protection, gained by amongst others the operation of two nuclear research reactors, hot cell laboratory, and other facilities, and our experience with radio-biological and medical research.

Courses on radiation protection

Radiation Protection and Health Physics courses are offered on a regular basis at several levels, all officially recognized by the Dutch government. In addition, tailor-made special courses have been developed for among others the medical sectors, off-shore industry, fire fighting departments and nuclear power plants.

Curriculum

Some courses on radiation protection provided by NRG are:

  • "Cursus basisbegrippen stralingshygiëne"
    (introduction to health physics)
  • "Stralingsdeskundige Niveau 5"
    (radiation expert level 5)
  • "Stralingsdeskundige Niveau 4"
    (radiation expert level 4)
  • "Stralingsdeskundige Niveau 3"
    (radiation expert level 3)
  • "Opfriscursus Niveau 3"
    (level 3 course for those that already have the diploma but want to update their knowledge)
  • "Omgaan met radioactiviteit voor Metaal- en Schroothandelaren"
    (course on dealing with radioactivity for metal and scrap metal industries)
  • "Studieavond voor docenten"
    (one-evening lectures on radioactivity and health physics for teachers)

Level 3 is the highest level certificate available in our curriculum. In addition our staff provides lectures in courses for Level 2 certificates, in co-operation with other institutes in the Netherlands.
