PETTEN, The Netherlands, 9 July 2007- The market for nuclear technology is strongly picking up momentum. At the Dutch expertise centre for nuclear technology NRG this is noticed daily. Never before was such a strong appeal made to our expertise and services as today. We are currently in the market for dozens of nuclear experts in various functions. A touch challenge in a small labour market where, at the same time, there is abundant demand in Europe for good people with competencies in nuclear technology, or for people who want to develop themselves in this field!
NRG is actively involved in the new development of nuclear power plants in Finland and France and supplies expertise to the biggest reactor builder in the world, Areva. In the next few years the number of experts required for the development and realisation of new nuclear power plants will increase strongly. Another important trend is the longer lifespan of existing power plants. This, too, has its influences on NRG’s order portfolio. Various assignments are executed in the field of safety analyses, system inspections and efficiency improvement in business operations.
The development of long-term (nuclear) energy systems is also gaining momentum. That means a strong impulse for NRG’s research programme in the field of High Temperature Reactors, recycling of radioactive waste and nuclear fusion. This generates not only an increasing need for qualified staff, but also for modern infrastructure. That is why NRG is making substantial investments in its facilities. Thus, the building of a new, modern, radiological laboratory was started in 2006 and well over half a million Euro has been invested in sophisticated analysis equipment. The PALLAS project, the reactor that is going to replace the High Flux Reactor as a unique radiation facility, has entered a new phase in which the preliminary design is determined.
Consequently, NRG offers (new) employees ample opportunities to work at socially relevant, high-quality, innovative technology development in an international environment. In the today published annual report a number of examples of this challenging work is described. This will give you an impression of the application of nuclear technology in the field of energy supply, the environment and health in 2006.
