From February 18th 2002 until March 22nd the High Flux Reactor (HFR) was temporarily shut down
for maintenance and additional evaluations. On these pages our colleagues
brief you on the past activities in and around the HFR.
Unfortunately, currently only the Dutch
version is available.
An audit was carried out (by the International Atomic Energy
Agency) in order to evaluate the safety procedures. The period the HFR was not in
operation was also used to carry out a number of measurements on the welds
within the reactor vessel.
The reactor is owned
by the European Union, NRG is responsible for its operation.
The HFR is used for scientific research,
the production of radio isotopes for the medical sectors and the treatment
of cancer patients.
